Senior Vice President, Electric Operations | Pacific Gas and Electric Company
Michael Lewis was named PG&E's Senior Vice President, Electric Operations in January 2019. In his role, Lewis oversees all of PG&E's electric transmission and distribution grid operations for the company's 70,000-square-mile service area. In addition, he oversees the company's wildfire prevention and response efforts; our longer-term grid resiliency initiatives; our system-wide vegetation management; and our company's emergency preparedness and response efforts.
He joined the company in August 2018 as Vice President for Electric Distribution Operations.
Lewis brings three decades of electric operations experience to PG&E. Most recently, he served as Duke Energy's Senior Vice President and Chief Distribution Officer, responsible for distribution operations across six states. Lewis previously served in increasingly more senior roles in the electric transmission and distribution including Chief Transmission Officer at Duke Energy. Before the Duke Energy/Progress Energy merger, Lewis was a senior vice president of energy delivery for Progress Energy Florida.
He holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Florida and an MBA from Nova Southeastern University. He attended both the Advanced Management Program at Duke University and the Finance and Accounting for Non-Financial Management Program at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School.
He also was recently named to the California Governor’s Earthquake Advisory Commission and is a member of the Association of Edison Illuminating Companies (AEIC).
